Developing a Coaching Culture

It is an axiom of human behaviour that people commit more fully to ideas they have thought of themselves. Coaching draws out these ideas from within the leader, creating a secure environment for action.

We have discovered that building a coaching culture starts with two things

1) Training key individuals well in the skills of coaching,

2) Making coaching a part of the training process for all other professional development.

These are the building blocks for a culture of coaching in a corporation, school or not for profit organization.  Coaching works.

As Trainers, they brought a great atmosphere, were flexible and focused on the job of producing good coaches. It was inspiring to see how helpful it was for people I was trained to coach.

When coaching permeates an organization, it produces a community committed to action; motivated, valued, problem solvers and goal setters, who constantly learn and adapt to change.  Satisfaction comes from believing your contribution is valued, and watching it achieve through implementation. Staff grow, remain in the organisation, and commit in these environments.

COACHING : PROFILING : CULTURE

The value for me learning to be a coach was to think systematically about the development of people, not by giving answers, but by asking the right questions at the right time.
